Our Ethos

At Freedom Makers Virtual Services, we cultivate our company culture so that it reflects our values and supports our team.

When we were a young business with a small team, our culture evolved into an unwritten code - shared understandings of how we operated and held each other accountable.

After a period of significant growth in 2021, we began to formally capturing this code to ensure our values and culture remain in focus as we grow and expand.

Our FMVS Ethos encapsulates how we interact the company, collaborate within the team, and maintain accountability to ourselves. Every team member is encouraged to identify when we deviate from these principles, and anyone joining our team is expected to uphold them to foster a shared sense of purpose.

This approach not only strengthens trust but also helps us best serve our clients and the military spouses who find meaningful work through us.

Within the Company:

  • We work hard to build and maintain trust with our clients and Freedom Makers and to live fulfilling lives. We're not here just for profit or a paycheck, we don't just check boxes.
  • We look for the gaps and work to fill them. We empower each other to do the same.
  • We constantly seek to make improvements.
  • We take risks and experiment.
  • We aim to be deliberate with each action with clients and Freedom Makers.
  • We consistently uphold our Guiding Principles of Freedom, Transparency, and Striving for Excellence, and show this by always exceeding our job responsibilities.

Within the Team:

  • We show up for each other—crossing lanes and levels—to help out because we are one team focused on the mission.
  • We make decisions at the ground level and hot wash afterward.
  • Mistakes are expected but details matter. We hot wash and move forward without blame.
  • We respect each other's time by working asynchronously, recognizing that we work at different paces and operate across various time zones.
  • We listen to each other, talk things out and, when we disagree, work towards a compromise.
  • We assume positive intentions always.
  • Words matter - we lift each other, our community, and ourselves.
  • We understand circumstances change and we are flexible in navigating changes while supporting each other.

As Individuals:

  • We own our mistakes.
  • We ask for help.
  • We accept help.
  • We offer help.
  • We focus on balance with our work, our families, and ourselves.
