Our Ethos
At Freedom Makers Virtual Services, we are very deliberate in building our culture. When we were a young business with a small team, part of that culture became an unwritten code... known and understood ways we operated and held each other accountable.
However, after experiencing a period of tremendous growth through 2021, we felt it was time to capture that unwritten code to ensure we keep our values and culture at the front of our mind as our team and our company continues to expand.
Our FMVS Ethos captures how we interact with the company, with the team, and with ourselves individually.
Anyone on our team can point out if or when we've strayed from them. And anyone joining our team should be willing to abide by them so that we can continue moving forward with a shared sense of purpose.
To the Company:
- We don’t just complete tasks; we own outcomes. We are committed to earning and protecting the trust of our clients and Freedom Makers through integrity, accountability, and meaningful work.
- We are a mission-driven company. While profit sustains our work, it is not our sole finish line. We measure our success by the freedom we create for military families and the positive results and experience we deliver for our clients.
- We look for the gaps and work to fill them. We empower each other to do the same.
- We constantly seek to make improvements.
- We take risks and experiment.
- We aim to be deliberate with each action with clients and Freedom Makers.
- We consistently uphold our Guiding Principles of Freedom, Transparency, and Striving for Excellence, and show this by always exceeding our job responsibilities.
To the Team:
- We show up for each other—crossing lanes and levels—to help out because we are one team focused on the mission.
- We make decisions at the ground level and hot wash afterward.
- Mistakes are expected but details matter. We hot wash and move forward without blame.
- We respect each other's time by working asynchronously, recognizing that we work at different paces, have different riverbanks, and operate across various time zones.
- We listen to each other, talk things out and, when we disagree, work towards a compromise.
- We strive to assume positive intentions always.
- Words matter - we lift each other, our community, and ourselves.
- We understand circumstances change and we are flexible in navigating changes while supporting each other.
As Individuals:
- We own our mistakes.
- We ask for help.
- We accept help.
- We offer help.
- We focus on balance with our work, our families, and ourselves.
- We set our own professional goals and work to achieve them.
